Reports suggest that Milan is once again pursuing Ruben Loftus-Cheek and is nearing the completion of the deal.
Share:AC Milan’s pursuit of reinforcements in midfield appears to be nearing a significant breakthrough as reports suggest they are closing in on securing the services of Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The English midfielder has emerged as a key target for the Rossoneri, who find themselves in dire need of midfield reinforcements following recent developments.
Milan’s midfield has been depleted with the departure of Sandro Tonali, who made a move to Newcastle. Furthermore, Ismael Bennacer’s injury has left a significant void in their squad until at least January 2024. In addition to these setbacks, loanees Aster Vranckx and Tiémoué Bakayoko have returned to their parent clubs, further exacerbating Milan’s midfield crisis.
Having explored various options in recent days, Milan seems to have shifted their focus back to Loftus-Cheek, who was initially identified as a summer target by the club’s former management team, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. Multiple sources including Sportitalia, Sky Italia, and Milannews.it indicate that negotiations between Milan and Chelsea have resumed, with talks now in an advanced stage.
According to reports from Italy the potential deal would involve a permanent transfer for a fee believed to be around €15 million. It is worth noting that personal terms between the player and the club have reportedly been agreed upon, indicating a positive development in the ongoing discussions.
However, it is important to consider the implications of Loftus-Cheek’s nationality. As an English player, he would count as a non-EU player for Milan. This means that after securing his services, the club would only have the capacity to sign one additional non-EU player. Despite this constraint, negotiations are progressing well, and the deal appears to be on the verge of completion.
