Anthony Martial could replace injured Karim Benzema at the World Cup
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is touted as one of the players who could replace Karim Benzema in the France’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Benzema is set to miss the World Cup after it was officially confirmed by L’Equipe this week that the Real Madrid forward suffered a knock in the left quadriceps during the session on Saturday evening.
France had hoped the 34-year-old would be fit for the Les Bleus opener against Australia next week but the Ballon d’Or winner eventually succumbed to the injury, that forced him out of some games for Real Madrid.
The same French outlet has reported that there are a number of players in the running to replace the Real Madrid talisman, including Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

Martial has struggled with injury issues this season but featured in United’s last three games before the international break.
The former Monaco forward has scored four goals and provided two assists for the Red Devils so far, making him an ideal replacement for Benzema.
