Share:Antonio Rudiger, the German footballer, had quite the summer transfer window last year. With his contract with Chelsea on the verge of expiry, Rudiger was a man in demand, with several top clubs vying for his signature. While the Blues were keen on renewing his contract, rumors of interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were rife.
Ultimately, Rudiger made the decision to join Real Madrid, and he recently shed light on that decision in an interview with Canal+ Afrique (as reported by Madrid Xtra). The German international acknowledged that there were indeed talks with PSG, but he stated that joining Real Madrid was always his preferred choice.
In his own words, Rudiger said, “There were a lot of rumors, and when PSG came, it was something I was not looking for. It’s nothing against PSG; it’s a beautiful club. But Real Madrid are Real Madrid. If you want to be on the winning side, you join Real Madrid.”
Rudiger’s words reflect the allure of the Spanish giants and their impressive history of success. It’s a sentiment shared by many footballers across the world, and Rudiger’s decision to join the Merengues was undoubtedly a well-considered one.
Now, as Real Madrid continue their campaign in La Liga, Rudiger’s impact is being felt on the pitch. In their recent match against Celta Vigo, Real Madrid secured a convincing 2-0 win, with Rudiger playing a key role in their success.
