Reports suggest Arsenal’s versatile Japanese defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu, might be leaving the club, with Napoli expressing interest in the upcoming transfer window.
Share:Tomiyasu’s versatility, expert at playing both right-back and left-back positions, has proven instrumental in bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad depth.
However, despite his significant contributions, he often finds himself in a supporting role behind stalwarts Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
According to reports from CalcioMercato Napoli’s pursuit of Tomiyasu is not without its challenges. While the Italian giants are eyeing a move in the next month, Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, values the Japanese defender’s impact on the team. Arteta appears reluctant to part ways with Tomiyasu unless a suitable replacement is secured.
The transfer dynamics suggest that Arsenal would consider a sale only if an attractive offer is tabled for the defender, who joined the club from Bologna in 2021.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has underscored Arsenal’s proactive stance in the upcoming January transfer window. The manager acknowledges the need to reinforce the squad, particularly in the striking department, as the team grapples with goal-scoring challenges. With Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah falling short of Arteta’s expectations, securing a potent striker becomes a top priority for the Gunners.
Arteta’s ambitions extend beyond the domestic front, aiming to position Arsenal favorably in the race for the Premier League title against rivals such as Manchester City.
