Aston Villa has emerged as a potential destination for Sporting CP’s talented winger, Pedro Goncalves.
The 25-year-old Portuguese player had a standout season, with an impressive tally of 20 goals and 15 assists across various competitions, drawing significant attention from the Premier League.
Reports from the Portuguese publication Record via SportWitness, revealed that Aston Villa expressed strong interest in securing his services during the summer transfer window. However, the deal didn’t come to fruition, and as things stand, a January move seems unlikely. Sporting CP is reluctant to part ways with a key player midseason.
Aston Villa, led by Unai Emery, has kicked off the Premier League campaign in fine form. With aspirations of securing a coveted Champions League spot, they recognize the need for reinforcements in the January transfer window. Pedro Goncalves could play a pivotal role in their pursuit of success, with his versatility to operate on both flanks and his proven ability to contribute both goals and assists.
One notable aspect is Aston Villa’s current reliance on Ollie Watkins for their goal-scoring needs. Introducing players like Goncalves, who can share the scoring burden, could be the key to their continued success.
