Barcelona are in dire need of midfield reinforcements after seeing Gavi rupture his ACL, ruling him out of the season.
Share:As the January transfer window approaches, Barcelona seems poised to make a strategic move, targeting Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder, Gio Lo Celso. The Catalan giants, currently grappling with challenges exacerbated by the recent injury to promising talent Gavi, view Lo Celso as a potential solution to their midfield concerns.
Gavi’s season-ending knee injury, sustained in a seemingly inconsequential Euro 2024 qualifier, has left a void in Barcelona’s midfield. With the youngster set to miss Euro 2024, the club is actively seeking reinforcements to bolster their squad.
Mund has highlighted Gio Lo Celso as Barcelona’s primary target once the transfer window opens on January 1. Interestingly, the Argentine midfielder was Xavi’s preferred choice during the summer transfer window. However, financial constraints prevented the deal from materializing, leaving Lo Celso at Tottenham.
Despite the previous setback, Barcelona seems determined to revive their pursuit of Lo Celso in the new year. The hope is that the player’s eagerness for a potential move, combined with Ange Postecoglou’s agreement, will facilitate a smoother negotiation process. Barcelona’s eagerness to secure Lo Celso reflects their commitment to strengthening their squad and addressing the challenges they currently face.
