Reports indicate that Chelsea has submitted a formal bid for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.
Share:In what could potentially be a significant move for Chelsea, the Premier League club has reportedly made a formal bid for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. The London-based team, who endured a difficult campaign finishing in the bottom half of the table and failing to secure European qualification for the upcoming season, seems determined to bolster their squad and reclaim their former glory.
With the imminent appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach, Chelsea is gearing up for a period of change. The Argentine’s primary task will be overseeing a series of player departures, as the club aims to address its financial situation by reducing the wage bill and generating funds through player sales to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Despite the need to balance the books, reports suggest that Pochettino will still have the opportunity to make some additions to the squad, with signing a new striker considered a top priority. Chelsea’s current attacking record, ranked fourth-worst in the league, underscores the urgency to strengthen their frontline.
According to ESPN and reputable journalist Julien Laurens, sources have confirmed that Chelsea has already made an offer for Dusan Vlahovic. The London club’s owners are reportedly prepared to pay €80 million (£69.53 million) for the highly sought-after Serbia international, a figure slightly lower than the €81.6 million Juventus spent on his acquisition in January 2022.
This bid could prove enticing for the Italian giants, who may be willing to cash in on one of their prized assets given Chelsea’s substantial offer. If successful, the acquisition of Vlahovic would undoubtedly inject a much-needed boost into Chelsea’s attacking options, providing the team with the firepower required to compete at the highest level once again.
