Share:Chelsea Football Club is said to be actively pursuing the exciting young talent of Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, with a potential summer transfer fee in the region of €30 million. The 20-year-old forward has been making quite an impression in Ligue 1, attracting significant interest from various clubs in the process.
According to L’equipe, negotiations between Chelsea and Montpellier have been ongoing for the past few days, indicating the Blues’ strong intent to secure Wahi’s signature. The player’s impressive performances have evidently caught the attention of Chelsea’s scouting team, who have wasted no time in initiating talks.
While other clubs, including Premier League side Bournemouth, have expressed interest in Wahi, it appears that the player is not particularly enticed by their offers. Similarly, clubs such as Lazio and Union Berlin, who have also registered their interest, do not seem to meet the striker’s aspirations at this stage of his career.
Interestingly, reports suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt could emerge as a potential destination for Wahi. Given their potential need to find a suitable replacement for Randal Kolo Muani, it would not be surprising if the German club enters the race for the talented striker’s signature.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Wahi is well-founded, considering their pressing need to bolster their attacking options following a lackluster display last season. The waning influence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, coupled with Romelu Lukaku’s uncertain future following an underwhelming loan spell at Inter Milan, has only heightened the urgency for the Blues to secure fresh firepower upfront.
