Erik ten Hag’s side bounced back from a disappointing exit from the Europa League just days earlier, with a display of determination and resilience.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag expressed his relief and satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying, “On Thursday I saw a team I didn’t recognise but today we went back to usual. I could see determination and resilience. We fought for every yard and competed in every battle. We had good chances.”
The two sides remained level at 0-0 after 120 minutes of play, leading to a penalty shootout. Both sides scored their first six penalties before a miss by Solly March gave United’s Victor Lindelof the opportunity to score the winning penalty, securing his place in the history books.
The match was a tense and closely contested affair, with both teams giving it their all. Ten Hag’s men, however, showed their mettle and fought hard for the win, booking their place in another cup final. United fans will be hoping that the team can carry this momentum into their upcoming fixtures and end the season on a high note.
