Granit Xhaka seems to have indicated his imminent departure from Arsenal by sharing a cryptic “goodbye” message on his Instagram story.
Share:In a surprising turn of events, Granit Xhaka has seemingly confirmed his departure from Arsenal, leaving fans speculating about his next destination. The Swiss midfielder recently took to his Instagram story, posting a cryptic message that strongly implies a goodbye.
With just one year left on his contract, Xhaka has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, particularly surrounding a potential move back to Germany, where Bayer Leverkusen has expressed a keen interest in securing his services.
While Xhaka has been a pivotal figure under the guidance of Mikel Arteta this season, it appears that a decision regarding his future has already been made. Following an impressive man-of-the-match performance against Wolves last Sunday, the 30-year-old uploaded a picture of himself on his Instagram story donning Puma attire, accompanied by the caption: “Two goals for the goodbye.”
The match against Wolves witnessed Xhaka netting twice within the opening 14 minutes, contributing to Arsenal’s emphatic 5-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. These goals took his total tally for the season to nine, making it his most productive campaign in an Arsenal jersey.
As Xhaka’s departure looms, Arsenal are keen to recoup a transfer fee rather than risk losing the influential midfielder on a free transfer next year. While his departure would undoubtedly leave a void in the squad, Arteta will now be tasked with finding a suitable replacement to ensure a smooth transition in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield.
