Sixers guard James Harden explained why he made compromises on his contract extension with the club.
Share:We spoke to Daryl Morey, it was explained to me what we can get better at, what the market value of certain players is. I told Morey to make the squad stronger, sign the players we need and already give me the rest of the money. That’s how much I want to win.
I want to fight for the title. That is all I am interested in at this stage. I’m willing to get less if it gives us a better chance of reaching our goal, Harden said.
Harden turned down $15 million for the 22/23 season. He extended his contract for 2 years with a player option for a second season at an annual salary of $34 million.
Philadelphia signed P.J. Tucker this summer for 3 years and 33 million.
