Share:Monaco, one of Ligue 1’s prominent clubs, is intensifying its search for a new goalkeeper this summer. Recent reports emanating from France indicate that Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy has emerged as a viable option for the principality outfit. With the 31-year-old shot-stopper seemingly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, a move to Monaco could be on the cards.
The goalkeeping situation at Monaco has become uncertain with the imminent return of their current goalkeeper, Alexander Nubel, to his parent club Bayern Munich following the conclusion of his loan spell in France. This has prompted the club to explore alternative options in their pursuit of a capable custodian ahead of the upcoming season.
According to the GFFN, Monaco has expressed a keen interest in acquiring the services of Edouard Mendy from Chelsea, hoping to fill the void left by the departing Nubel.
The Senegalese international, who was previously regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world, endured limited playing time last season. As Chelsea prepares for a significant squad overhaul, Mendy finds himself among the players deemed surplus to requirements, further fueling speculation surrounding his future.
Should Monaco succeed in securing the signature of Edouard Mendy, it would undoubtedly be a significant coup for the club. The experienced shot-stopper would bring a wealth of talent and international pedigree to the Principality, fortifying their defensive line and providing a solid presence between the sticks. Such a move would benefit all parties involved, offering Mendy a fresh start and Monaco a top-tier goalkeeper to anchor their backline.
