Reportedly, both Liverpool and Manchester United are monitoring the progress of Giorgio Scalvini, a 19-year-old Atalanta defender.
Share:In the latest transfer buzz, Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United have turned their attention to the promising Italian defender Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta.
Reports emerging from reliable sources suggest that scouts from both clubs closely observed Scalvini during Italy’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Ukraine earlier this month, marking him as a potential target for the upcoming transfer windows.
The 19-year-old Scalvini has not gone unnoticed by Manchester United, who had previously been monitoring him while scouting another talent, Rasmus Hojlund. Now, Liverpool has entered the race, indicating their keen interest in securing Scalvini’s services.
Both clubs find themselves in a pressing need to strengthen their defensive lines. Liverpool’s defensive options have been plagued by injuries to Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, leaving Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk as the only reliable choices. Scalvini’s youth and potential make him an attractive prospect for Jurgen Klopp, who is looking to fortify his squad.
Similarly, at Old Trafford, manager Erik ten Hag is also seeking to shore up his defense. Scalvini’s versatility and talent align with Manchester United’s ambition to regain their defensive prowess.
Scalvini has already earned six caps for his national team, underlining his rapid rise in the footballing world. If either Liverpool or Manchester United secures his signature, the move to the Premier League could expedite his development and potentially elevate him to a key role within these prestigious clubs.
