According to reputable football journalist David Ornstein , Liverpool is among a range of suitors interested in securing Mount’s services in the summer.
“Negotiations between Chelsea and Mount over a new contract have not yet led to an agreement, with several offers made last summer and in the autumn rejected by the 24-year-old,” he said.
While Mount’s current contract with Chelsea runs until 2024, negotiations over a new deal have reportedly hit an impasse. Despite several offers being made by the club last summer and in the autumn, none have led to an agreement with the England international.
As a result, Mount may well be open to exploring alternative options if he can’t be guaranteed regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for Chelsea this season, registering nine goal contributions in 31 appearances across all competitions. His ability to play across the midfield and in attack has caught the eye of Liverpool, who are known admirers of the player.
Liverpool’s recent form, with back-to-back wins in the Premier League against Everton and Newcastle, has rekindled hopes of a strong finish to the season. The Reds will be hoping to carry that momentum into their upcoming Champions League fixture against Real Madrid.
While it remains to be seen if Liverpool will make a move for Mount, the prospect of adding such a versatile and dynamic player to their squad is sure to excite fans of the Merseyside club.
With negotiations over a new contract at Chelsea seemingly on hold, the stage could be set for a summer transfer saga involving one of English football’s brightest talents.
