Football Transfers have suggested that Manchester United’s hierarchy initiated discussions with the agent representing the seasoned 34-year-old Croatian international. The intent was to explore the feasibility of a potential move.
The backdrop against which this pursuit unfolds adds an element of urgency for Manchester United. With the incumbent left-back Luke Shaw nursing a severe injury that is set to keep him off the pitch for a substantial period, the club is actively scouting for a proficient replacement. This is where Ivan Perisic comes into the picture, offering versatility as both a left winger and a full-back.
Perisic’s noteworthy performance in the full-back role under the tutelage of Antonio Conte at Tottenham has undoubtedly caught the attention of Manchester United’s decision-makers. An impressive tally of 12 assists across various competitions last season underscores his impact in this role.
From a tactical perspective, Perisic possesses the skill set and seasoned experience that could potentially make him a stopgap solution for Manchester United’s immediate requirements. The prospect of acquiring his services, even on a temporary basis through a loan arrangement, could be a shrewd move.
However, Manchester United’s considerations extend beyond Perisic alone. The club’s pursuit of reinforcing their full-back options has seen them linked with other candidates, including Marc Cucurella and Marcos Alonso.
