Manchester United set to battle Arsenal over signing of this Premier league star.
According to sources close to the club, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is resigned to the fact that star midfielder Youri Tielemans could be on his way out early next week.
Arsenal have long been linked with a move for the Belgian international and it came as a surprise to many that he wasn’t able to complete a move to the Emirates during the summer of 2022 and now Manchester United is said to be heavily interested in the Belgian international as well, as their midfield is in need of rotation options and quality depth.
Furthermore, it is understood that Tielemans is not open to signing a new contract with Leicester, making a move away from the club a likely possibility.
The Red Devils, managed by Erik ten Haag, have long-term plans for the midfielder, especially with veterans Eriksen and Casimiro nearing the end of their careers.
In the event of Tielemans’ departure, Leicester is expected to seek a replacement. Dennis Praet was seen as the ideal successor, but his recent injury setback may rule him out. Another name that has been linked to the club is Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who has impressed in Ligue 1. However, other players with potential are also being considered by the club.
Despite having midfield options in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Wilfred Ndidi, Bouba Soumare, Papy Mendy, and James Maddison, it is believed that the Foxes will bring in a new midfielder if Tielemans leaves.
It will be interesting to see which of the Premier league giants get to land the midfielder who would surely be an important addition to any club he joins.
