Renowned journalist and esteemed CaughtOffside columnist, Ben Jacobs, has recently revealed that the Magpies are ready to unleash a substantial financial package, rumored to be in the region of £40 million, to secure the services of the talented England international.

However, negotiations might prove challenging, as Leicester City holds firm on their valuation of Maddison, demanding a more substantial fee of approximately £55 million for their prized playmaker. The Foxes, who suffered relegation to the Championship in the previous campaign, hope to incite a bidding war for Maddison’s services. Notably, long-time admirers Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed interest in the 26-year-old, potentially intensifying the competition and driving his price upwards.
Nevertheless, Leicester City faces a precarious situation with Maddison’s contract, as it enters its final year. Failure to offload the midfielder during the summer transfer window could inevitably result in losing him on a free transfer next year. Such an outcome could potentially lead to an unhappy player remaining on their books, an outcome the Foxes are keen to avoid.
