According to a report by TeamTalk, Newcastle United is expressing a strong interest in securing the services of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
Share:Eddie Howe, the manager at Newcastle, is reportedly an admirer of the Scottish international midfielder, and the Magpies are contemplating a potential move for the 26-year-old during the upcoming January transfer window.
Securing McTominay’s services won’t come cheap for Newcastle, as it is believed that Manchester United has set a price tag of approximately £40 million for the midfielder. Interestingly, West Ham also pursued McTominay during the summer transfer window, tabling an offer of around £35 million, which was rejected by Manchester United.
McTominay’s need for regular game time is evident, and a move to Newcastle could present an ideal opportunity for him to achieve that. With Newcastle’s apparent seriousness about this transfer, football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting whether they can successfully complete the deal.
Furthermore, the Magpies are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League, necessitating both quality and depth in their squad. The loss of Sandro Tonali for the remainder of the season is a significant setback, and Newcastle must now focus on securing suitable replacements.
Scott McTominay could potentially become a valuable addition to the Newcastle squad. His experience in the Premier League makes him a reliable choice, and he will be eager to demonstrate his abilities at St. James’ Park.
The midfielder has faced limited playing time at Old Trafford, fueling his determination to thrive at Newcastle—a factor that would undoubtedly be an asset for both the player and Eddie Howe.
