With the January transfer window fast approaching, the Magpies are keen on bolstering their squad, considering the recent concerns surrounding their summer signing, Sandro Tonali, who faces a potential ban due to his involvement in an illegal betting scandal.
According to reports from respected sources, including 90min, Newcastle United is closely monitoring the 26-year-old midfielder currently plying his trade at Al Hilal.
There’s speculation that the club might make a move for Neves in the upcoming transfer window. This, despite his notable transfer to the Saudi Pro League earlier in the summer for a substantial £47 million fee. The question now is whether Al Hilal is open to considering his departure in the coming months.
While Neves is undoubtedly a talented addition, he is not expected to come cheap. However, Newcastle United, backed by the deep pockets of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), possesses the financial muscle to make a significant acquisition.
Neves has already left his mark in the Premier League during his time with Wolverhampton Wanderers, showcasing his prowess as a midfielder.
The prospect of returning to England could prove enticing for the player, given his ability to provide defensive solidity, creativity, and precise control in the heart of the midfield. This potential transfer has the potential to reshape Newcastle United’s midfield dynamics, but the cost and Al Hilal’s willingness to negotiate will ultimately determine whether the move becomes a reality.
