Onana expresses sadness over Man United’s draw with Brentford, emphasizing the need for victory, unity, and hard work for a top-four finish.
Share:Manchester United’s recent 1-1 draw against Brentford has left goalkeeper Andre Onana reflecting on the team’s performance and the expectations that come with playing for a club of United’s stature.
Speaking after the match, Onana didn’t hide his disappointment, emphasizing the club’s winning mentality and the collective responsibility the team holds.
“I feel sad because we are Manchester United, so it doesn’t matter who you play. Everywhere we go, we have to win,” Onana expressed, underscoring the high standards expected at United.
Despite a valiant defensive effort, the team’s inability to secure a win was a source of frustration for the goalkeeper. “We did a fantastic job defending – it was not our best game – but the most important thing was to win. So, yeah, it’s difficult,” he admitted.
The match against Brentford, which saw United concede a late equalizer, was particularly disheartening for Onana. “The most important thing is the victory of the team. It’s good when you contribute and you have a victory. Of course, we didn’t lose this game, but the way we conceded that goal is bad for all of us because we are in this together,” he remarked, highlighting the collective effort in defense.
Onana also spoke about his role as a leader within the squad, emphasizing the importance of staying positive and taking responsibility. “As a leader and experienced player, we have to take responsibility and always stay positive because it’s the biggest club in the country. We have to continue working hard, be humble, and I know we will stick together because we did it in the last month. I hope we end in the top four,” he said, looking ahead with hope and determination.
Manchester United’s draw against Brentford, especially after scoring in the dying moments of the match, was a bitter pill to swallow. Yet, Onana’s comments serve as a rallying cry for the team to unite, work harder, and maintain the club’s legacy of excellence. As United continues its pursuit of a top-four finish, Onana’s leadership and positive outlook may just be the catalyst the team needs to overcome their challenges.
