As per Graeme Bailey’s astute observations on 90 Min, both North London clubs have established preliminary contacts with the Belgian outfit in hopes of securing the services of the 18-year-old sensation. For Arsenal and Tottenham, the appeal of Vermeeren lies in his potential to fortify their central midfield positions for years to come. Aged only 18, the young Belgian represents a shrewd, long-term investment. Nevertheless, they must contend with the looming specter of Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, who boast formidable financial resources. Convincing Vermeeren to choose between the allure of Arsenal and Tottenham over the riches of Manchester City is a task fraught with uncertainty.
Arsenal’s impetus for pursuing Vermeeren is further underscored by their anticipated departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey. The promising youngster could potentially fill the impending void with his quality and verve. Meanwhile, Tottenham, with an eye on the future, could be planning to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the forthcoming transfer windows.
It is crucial that the club he eventually aligns himself with can guarantee substantial first-team action. Arsenal and Tottenham, therefore, may find themselves in the position of having to offer enticing assurances of regular playing time to facilitate the materialization of this promising transfer.
