Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a shock move to Tottenham if Antonio Conte should renew his contract with the North London side.
Share:According to reports, Romelu Lukaku, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, could make a move to Tottenham if the club manages to keep Antonio Conte as manager and if Harry Kane decides to leave.
The Belgian striker, who previously played under Conte at Inter Milan, has been tipped as a potential replacement for Kane, who is reportedly considering a new challenge.
However, Tottenham may face competition from Newcastle United in the race to sign Lukaku. CalcioMercato suggests that Lukaku may reunite with his former manager before the end of the season, given his interest in working with Conte again.
The transfer, however, is dependent on Conte’s future at the club. The Italian’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire at the end of the season, but the club has an option to extend it for another year. Conte has yet to commit to a new deal, but he did mention earlier this month that he is “really committed” to staying at Tottenham.
If Conte decides to stay and Kane departs, the Italian manager may be forced to sign a new striker, leading to a potential reunion with Lukaku. The 29-year-old striker has previously spoken highly of Conte, taking to Instagram in 2021 to praise the manager and reflect on their bond.
In conclusion, the potential transfer of Lukaku to Tottenham is a story to keep an eye on in the coming months, as it will likely hinge on the decisions of both Conte and Kane.
