The 23-year-old midfielder is among the players potentially on the exit list as Chelsea looks to trim their bloated squad. Joining the race for his signature is Newcastle United, indicating the growing interest in securing Gallagher’s services.
Gallagher’s season failed to yield remarkable results, as he saw limited action under the management of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. While he enjoyed more playing time under interim manager Frank Lampard, his performances did little to bolster his reputation.
The recent appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur has brought renewed vigor to the club’s pursuit of Gallagher. Postecoglou views the young midfielder as a source of energy and dynamism in the heart of their midfield. Gallagher’s skill set and potential make him an enticing prospect who could flourish under the Australian manager’s guidance.
Meanwhile, Chelsea finds themselves in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer. However, before making new signings, the club must create room within their ranks, as they already boast a midfield contingent consisting of Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount.
