Tottenham Hotspur faces a setback as Cristian Romero is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, amplifying their defensive woes with Micky van de Ven already out.
Share:In light of Romero’s absence, Tottenham is compelled to seek quality reinforcements to maintain their current form and secure a position in the UEFA Champions League. Notably, the Daily Mail reports that Tottenham has set its sights on Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as a potential solution.
Gomez, a 26-year-old central defender, has not been a consistent starter for Liverpool, prompting speculation about a possible transfer. However, convincing a Premier League rival to part ways with a valuable asset like Gomez presents its own challenges. The defender’s versatility, proficiency in both central and full-back positions, and adept distribution make him an appealing prospect for Spurs and their style of play under Ange Postecoglou.
Yet, Liverpool’s defensive depth concerns, with only Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as reliable central defenders, further complicate the potential transfer. The absence of Joel Matip for the season due to injury leaves Liverpool with limited options at the back, raising questions about the likelihood of them parting with Gomez in the upcoming transfer window.
