Chelsea’s young talent Andrey Santos has agreed to a season-long loan transfer to Nottingham Forest.
Share:Chelsea’s promising young midfielder, Andrey Santos, has inked a significant season-long loan deal with Nottingham Forest, a decision made following his exclusion from Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup in the team’s 3-1 defeat against West Ham this past Sunday.
Announced as a £16 million acquisition from Vasco da Gama in January, the 19-year-old Santos has, undoubtedly, showcased his potential at Stamford Bridge. Nonetheless, his recent irregular appearances under Pochettino have prompted this tactical loan arrangement to facilitate his consistent development.

Chelsea’s summer transfer activity saw the club secure the services of three midfield stalwarts – Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu – an aggregate expenditure nearing the £200 million mark. This influx of midfield options has understandably impacted Santos’s opportunities within the first-team fold.
Santos’s addition into Nottingham Forest, led by the capable Steve Cooper, stems from his ambition to get more regular playing time. It’s also worth noting that this transfer bears no influence on Chelsea’s concurrent interest in the versatile Forest forward, Brennan Johnson.
With aspirations to be eligible for selection, Santos is striving to quicken his registration process, aiming to potentially debut in the club’s encounter against Manchester United at the historic Old Trafford come Saturday.
