This match sees play-off challengers Blackpool host survival hopefuls Cheltenham Town. Both are on fairly decent runs at the moment so this could be interesting.

Blackpool currently occupy the last play-off spot after going unbeaten in their last two matches. They had lost the previous two so this bounce-back comes at a very good time. However, they need to keep this up as there are no fewer than seven teams below them who could still leapfrog them into the top seven.

Gary Bowyer’s side have focused primarily on defence this season and they have the joint-third-best Goals Against record in the division with just 44 conceded in 43 games whilst they have also kept 14 clean sheets, including two in their last two matches. Goal-scoring has been a bit of a problem in recent times however with just two in their last four. The fact they have found the back of the net 63 times overall though, does show that they can be potent in the final third.

The Tangerines have not been that good on home soil throughout the course of the campaign with just 33 points taken from 21 games, however, they are currently on a good run  with just one defeat in their last ten, including three victories in their last five.

As mentioned earlier, Cheltenham are on a decent run with eight points taken from a possible 12 in their last four. These results have boosted them up to 21st, five points clear of the drop-zone.

In comparison with the rest of the division, the Robins have not been brilliant at the back. However, among the teams fighting relegation, Cheltenham have the best defensive record with 60 conceded. Offensively though, their record of 47 in 43 is quite paltry and only two more than Leyton Orient who are the league’s lowest scorers.

Gary Johnson’s side have been having a bad time on the road in this calender year with just two wins in their 11 matches in all competitions in 2017. They are undefeated in their last two away from Whaddon Road but have not won in their last five. Going away to Bloomfield Road could be tricky.

With these two sides carrying a bit of momentum, both of them will be confident of picking up a result; however, given Cheltenham’s poor away form and Blackpool’s good form at Bloomfield Road in recent times, the Tangerines should have a bit too much in the locker here. At even-money, the home side are expected to put one foot in the play-offs by securing a win.
