Despite already having reached an agreement with the club, the Spanish goalkeeper’s underwhelming display in the match has raised concerns.
De Gea conceded a goal to Ilkay Gundogan within the first 15 seconds and faced criticism for Manchester City’s winning goal, with fans believing he should have saved the slow-moving shot. This adds to a series of mistakes he has made throughout the season.
Manchester United supporters have been calling for a new first-choice goalkeeper, and the Daily Mail reports that the events at Wembley could influence De Gea’s contract negotiations.
